Needham Police Log: Yelling, Vandalizing and Scratching

The following reports were provided by the Needham Police Department from Dec. 8 - 10. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Dec. 8

  • 2:45 p.m., a Charles Street business reported a disturbance when one person was yelling at another person in the parking lot. No charges were issued at the time. Both were later identified as Newton residents. 
  • At the Webster Street/Elder Road intersection at around 7:15 p.m., police responded to an argument on an MBTA bus. Police removed a suspect from the bus, who denied any wrongdoing. The bus went on its way, the suspect left the area on foot. 

Sunday, Dec. 9 

  • Police responded to a car crashed into a tree near the 200 block of Second Avenue, 6 a.m. The car was found on the sidewalk, and driven into the tree with considerable damage. Police are investigating the matter, and report they were unable to reach the vehicle's owner. 
  • The St. Joseph Middle School had a number of instances of minor vandalism reported at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police looked around the first floor hallway, cafeteria and saw a number of small acts of vandlism. Staff couldn't identify those who made the marks, as the areas are highly trafficked. 
  • 10:15 p.m., a man is placed into protective custody after Newton Police informed Needham that an intoxicated party may be entering the area from Needham Street in Newton. He was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Monday, Dec. 10

  • A teacher at Pollard Midle School told police, at about 11:45 a.m., that an unknown person scratched up a cello.
  • While at the Needham Square Post Office, a Natick woman told police, two checks were stolen from her check book. The checks have since been canceled.
