Needham Police Log: Red Light Running, Late Night Parties

The following reports were provided by the Needham Police Department from Dec. 16 - 17. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Dec. 16 

  • While driving near the intersection of Charles Street and Highland Avenue at 2 a.m., a police officer reported seeing a vehicle run a red light at Second and Highland Avenues. He attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop, and got onto I-95. The officer was able to get a license plate, and the 26-year-old Hudson woman will be summonsed for failing to stop for a police officer and motor vehicle violations. 
  • 2:15 a.m. on Greendale Avenue, police responded to a loud group, which the reporting caller did not believe should have been in the apartment. When police spoke to them, this was not the case, and one of the parties inside was the granddaughter of the resident. Police asked them to keep it down. 

Monday, Dec. 17

  • Near the 1400 block of Central Avenue, police responded to a two-car crash involving property damage, at about 8 a.m. One driver will be cited and summonsed to court for driving on a revoked liense and failing to use care. 
  • 1:30 p.m., a Pleasant Street resident comes into the station to report her car had been hit while inside the Needham Community Council. About a half-hour later, an elderly woman reported to police that she had hit a car while driving on Hillside Avenue. Side mirrors were damaged, and police were able to get the two in contact with each other to exchange information.
