Firefighter Who Stole $492K from Elderly Woman Sentenced

Kevin Foley was charged with tax evasion.

Kevin Foley, a former Needham firefighter and chairman of the town's Board of Assessors, was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison on tax evasion charges.

Foley, 56, was charged with stealing $492,000 from an elderly Needham resident. Prosecutors said he failed to file taxes for that money, as well as his salary while he was employed with the town.

Foley was also sentenced to two years of supervised release and ordered to pay $115,500 in restitution.

Prosecutors said Foley used the stolen money to buy a boat and pay off his mortgage.
