Entire Length of Needham Street Closed After Massive Water Main Break

Authorities shut down the entire length of Needham Street Wednesday following a massive water main break.

The break was reported at about 9:30 a.m. The Fire Department said part of the street was "buckling."

There were major traffic delays in the area as detours were set up. Needham Street is a main thoroughfare near Route 9 in the Newton Highlands.

Police said businesses on the street were closed. At about noon, police residents of the Avalon can access their residence by using Columbia Avenue.
