Construction Worker Falls on the Site; Newton Driver Hits Boy on Bike

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, June 29 

  • At 2:56 p.m., a Carol Road resident reported that his Apple iPhone and GPS were taken from his car while he was working at a Chapel Street business
Monday, June 30 

  • At 9:48 a.m., a man working at a residence on Whittier Road called to report that a construction worker had fallen inside, possible injury 
  • At 11:41 a.m., police responded to Wexford Street and Arlington Road for a report of a truck that had pulled down electric and phone wires. No injuries. 
  • At 12:01 p.m., police responded to Chapel Street for a report of a verbal argument between two parties. 
  • Police responded to a hit and run in the paring lot of 21 Highland Ave. A witness got the suspect's registration plate number and description. A 50-year-old Newton resident will be summonsed for operating with a revoked registration, operating without insurance, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage 
  • At 7:35 p.m., police responded to the parking lot at the main entrance to the BI Hospital for a tree limb that stuck a car, causing minor damage to the hood and left front quarter panel. 
  • At 9:10 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Grant and School for a report of a motor vehicle vs. bicycle accident. The cyclist had minor scrapes. The father of the bicyclist was called to the scene and his son left in his care. The driver was cited for failure to yield. 
  • At 10:20 p.m., police took a report from a resident who thought someone tried to break into her car. Nothing was missing, and access was not gained.
