Bank Robbery in Needham Police Log: Dec. 17 - 19

The following information was supplied by Needham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

12:15 p.m.: A student from Needham High School reported that her car was hit while she was leaving the parking lot after school. She spoke to the other operator at the scene but they did not exchange information. Police called the other operator’s home and helped in the information exchange.

2:30 p.m.: A Washington Street resident reported that he had received a text message stating that his father was kidnapped and he needed to send money to pay the ransom. He was advised that this was a scam and he didn’t need to worry.

3:20 p.m.: Police spoke with a Captain Robert Cook Drive resident about unauthorized charges that appeared on her debit card.


Wednesday, Dec. 18

1:52 a.m.: Police observed a motor vehicle on Morton Street that was plowed in. A check of the vehicle’s registration indicated that the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured The vehicle was towed due to the hazardous condition it was creating and the motor vehicle violations. The owner, a 43-year-old Needham woman, will be summonsed to court for allowing a vehicle without insurance to remain on a way.


Thursday, Dec. 19

12:02 a.m.: Police responded to a disturbance call in the area of Murphy Road. The caller stated that she had unwanted company on her front porch and he was demanding her to open the front door. The unwanted party was asked to leave the area and not to return.

11:40 a.m.: Police responded to a Highland Avenue bank for a robbery. An unidentified male entered the bank, passed a note and left on foot. An undetermined amount of currency was taken. The matter is under investigation.

3:12 p.m.: Police were dispatched to Highland Avenue for a report of a past hit and run. Upon arrival, the reporting party told police that another vehicle bumped into her in traffic and left the scene. There was no visible damage. The reporting party provided police with the other driver’s license plate number. At this time, police are attempting to follow up with the other operator.
