Obituary: Stephen J. Fleming III, Graduate of Needham High School

Stephen J. Fleming III, 77, of Needham, passed away in his sleep Oct. 28, 2013. 

Stephen was born April 20, 1936 and was son of the late Stephen and Dorothy Fleming of Needham. Stephen graduated from Needham High School in 1955 and attended the Evening School at Boston College. 

Stephen had a happy and successful business career spanning over 30 years, 20 of which were in the customer services division of Honeywell Information Systems. 

Stephen was an active member of both Saint Bartholomew's and Saint Joseph's Parish. Stephen traveled extensively, was an avid Boston sports fan, and enjoyed the art of painting as evidenced by his work on display in his residence at Nehoiden Glen. Stephen was a founding resident of Nehoiden Glen in Needham where he resided for over 30 years. 

Stephen is survived by his sister, Janet Kelly-Machunski of South Yarmouth, (formerly Needham); his niece Kathleen J. Kelly of Boston; his nephew Robert and wife Maureen Kelly and their children Robert, Nora and Thomas of Boston; and his cousins Mary Fleming of Medford and John Fleming of Milton. 

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 at Saint Joseph's Parish in Needham at 10 a.m. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held at 9 a.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Needham prior to service. Burial to follow at Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham. 

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Dr. Roger F. Lange Oncology Endowment Fund at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
