Obituary: Peter J. Fugere Sr., Board Member of Needham Housing Authority

Peter John Fugere Sr. passed away Nov. 10, 2013.

Born July 7, 1951, at the Naval Air Station Quonset Point, R.I., he was son of the late Robert S. Fugere Sr. and Marie Corrine Paulette (Alain) Fugere of Buzzards Bay.

Peter was raised on Cape Cod where his parents owned the Breaker 1-9 diner and Friendship Inn motel. Peter was an Eagle Scout, and spent his youth actively involved with scouting.

After attending Wareham High school, Peter attended the Swain School of Design, the University of Rhode Island, the Banff School of Fine Arts, Alberta Canada and the New England Institute of Technology.

Peter owned a gallery and studio called Artvark on Cranberry Highway, Cape Cod. He was an artist producing fine art, freelance painting and many editorial cartoons for papers such as the Narragansett Times, the Standard Times of Wickford, R.I. and Cape Cod Independent. He most recently was an elected board member of the Needham Housing Authority in Massachusetts. 

Peter is survived by his four children, Peter Jr. of Keene, N.H., Trevelyan of San Diego, Calif., Gabrielle of Scituate and Carlton of West Warwick, R.I.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert S. Fugere Jr.

Services will be private.
