Obituary: Leon D. Frawley, Manager of Calvert's in Needham

Leon D. "Chick" Frawley, 85, of Jupiter Fla., formerly of Needham, died Jan. 16, 2014

Leon D. "Chick" Frawley, 85, of Jupiter Fla., formerly of Needham, died Jan. 16, 2014 at his home.

Born in Sharon, son of the late William J. and Antoinette (Decelle) Frawley, Chick grew up in West Roxbury. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Newton and served in the Army National Guard from 1952 to 1955.

He was husband of the late Marie B. (Melling).

Chick was the store manager of Calvert's in Needham for many years. He was a former active member St. Bartholomew Parish and the St. Bartholomew's Dinner Club.

An avid sports fan, Chick especially enjoyed Notre Dame Football.

Chick is survived by his children, Leon D. "Chick" Frawley Jr. and his wife Linda of Medfield, Marie B. Frawley of Falmouth and Stephen G. Frawley and his wife Tarah of Jupiter, Fla.; his grandchildren, Hannah and Bridget; his brother, Rick Frawley of Medfield; his many aunts and uncles in various religious orders; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Daniel, William, John, Joseph, Paul David, Marie Keller, Sue Koch, Gertrude Kerrissey, Marguerite Friel and Cal Dunn. 

Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham, Thursday, Jan. 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave., Needham, Friday at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Needham.

In lieu of flowers donations in Chick's name may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
