Obituary: Antoinette "Toni" M. (Ferrera) Bellomo, Teller at First National Bank in Needham

Antoinette "Toni" M. (Ferrera) Bellomo, 87, of Needham, died Dec. 19, 2013.

She was wife of the late Charles M. Bellomo, the former Fire Chief of Needham, to whom she was married for 64 years.

She grew up and was educated in Waltham.

Toni worked after school at Cronin's Department Store in Waltham to help support her family. For the past 66 years, she lived in Needham. She was well known teller at the First National Bank in Needham for 16 years. She worked at First National until she began her career as a mother and full time care giver to her elderly mother-in-law, who she nursed and prolonged her life when no one thought it possible.

She also enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends in Del Ray Beach, Fla. and at Kilton Pond in Grafton, N.H. In Florida, she enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Red Hats. She treated the clubhouse to "a round" when she scored a hole in one. Toni was a great cook and no one left her home hungry. She enjoyed watching sports, dancing, playing baseball with her children and grandchildren and a cold beer in a coffee mug. When life's responsibilities were less, Toni's joy came from family dinners and events. She took great pleasure traveling the country with the "Chiefs" who she adored. Toni loved hosting themed parties and get togethers at her cabin in New Hampshire or condo in Florida.

She is survived by her sons, Gerald P. and his wife Maureen of Needham and Frank C. and his wife Meg of Attleboro; her grandchildren Charles, Jay, Michael, Ryan and Catherine; and her siblings Angelo Ferrera of Waltham, Maryanne Ohrenberger of Wollaston and John Ferrera of South Africa. She was preceded in death by her sibling Alphonse Ferrera.

Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave., Needham will be Friday, Dec. 27 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursdays 4 to 7 p.m. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery Needham.
