Beatrice Milton Hoffman, Formerly of Needham

Beatrice Milton Hoffman, born in Boston, MA. on April 27, 1923, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2014 in Sarasota, FL.

Daughter of Leo J. and Sadie Milton of Brookline, MA, Beatrice was married to Sumner H. Hoffman, M.D. for 61 years. She is survived by her brother, Marvinof Newton, MA and her three daughters: Elise Barack of Highland Park, IL; Ilene Hoffman of Needham, MA; and Suzanne L. Hoffman of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bea was a resident of Needham, MA for many years, as well as Bristol, RI before relocating to Sarasota, FL.

She is a graduate of Smith College and holds a Masters of Social Work degree from Simmons College. Professionally, she was Director of Social Service at the former Glover Memorial Hospital, now the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

Bea enjoyed playing bridge and competitive tennis. She was a member of the Needham Tennis Club and an organizer of the Junior Wightman Cup tennis program.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 20 at Temple Emanu-El. Interment was at Florida National Cemetery.
