Anya Olsen of Needham, MA will play the title role in Walnut Hill School for the Arts’ summer production of Thoroughly Modern Millie later this month. A toe-tapping tribute to the flapper era, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount (played by Olsen), and the trouble and adventures she encounters upon moving to New York City.
Olsen, 16 is a rising junior at Needham High School where she recently played Cosette in Les Misèrables and was a member of the cast of a student-run production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. She trained in classical ballet at Charles River Ballet Academy and has danced with the Needham High School Varsity Dance Team. A vocal student of Kimberly Moller, Olsen sings with the Handel and Haydn Society Young Women’s Chorus, Needham High School’s music program, and the Teen Band Program at Plugged In, a Needham youth arts organization.
