CHARLIE BAKER KICKS OFF CAMPAIGN FOR GOVERNOR!

This week I attended Charlie Baker’s Boston Campaign Kick-Off Event for the Massachusetts Governor’s race, where I had the opportunity to hear him speak, and was able to discuss with him his goals for Massachusetts. 

For those who may not know, Charlie Baker grew up in Needham - having graduated Needham High in 1975.

Charlie’s passion, energy, and drive for making Massachusetts excel were clearly evident when he spoke to us - without teleprompter, notes, or podium – about his 3 - pronged plan for more jobs, better education, and vibrant and safe communities.

Jobs – Many companies are concerned about the high cost of doing business in Massachusetts. The regulatory climate in Massachusetts is difficult as well.  A lot of great opportunities pass us by - Charlie proposes simplifying regulations so businesses can get up and running more quickly.

Education  -  Charlie stressed how important education is , and that it is a predictor for future job opportunities and growth within the State.  He spoke of ways to improve our public education system so that all students are able to achieve. 

Communities  -  Charlie discussed the need for vibrant communities where jobs are plentiful and neighborhoods safe and his vision for achieving them. 

Charlie Baker is not just another politician throwing out empty promises.  His prior work experience in both Governors Weld’s and Celluci’s administrations turned a billion dollar State deficit into a surplus.  Hundreds of thousands of jobs were created, and the most ambitious education reforms in the country were passed. 

In the Private Sector, Charlie Baker took the reins at Harvard Pilgrim when it was on the verge of bankruptcy.  Within 5 years, he turned it into the Nation’s #1 Health Care Provider.

After talking with Charlie Baker, I know that he is by far  the most qualified person to lead Massachusetts into the future.  And, who else but a Needhamite to do this job?
