Needham resident Emma Zeiger, 14, was recently honored at a Red Sox game for her efforts with the Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon, which raises funds to support cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.
Since losing her dad to cancer in 2007, Zeiger has been riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge each year and has raised more than $20,000 for cancer research. Her father, Jay Zeiger, also rode in the adult PMC for six years right up until he passed away in 2007.
Jay has been his daughter's inspiration for participating and riding in this challenge every year.
At the June 9 Red Sox game at Fenway Park, Zeiger was honored by PMC for this outstanding achievement.
