Needham Goes Pink

The Needham Merchants Association and Needham Restaurant Association, in collaboration with the Needham Business Association and the Town of Needham is sponsoring Needham Goes Pink to benefit the newly established Needham Goes Pink Fund at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

The merchants have provided thousands of pink shoe laces to Needham High School and Middle School sport teams to wear during the month of October.  They have installed pink bows throughout the downtown to commemorate the event—reminding everyone of the importance of helping those in the community who face the challenges of dealing with breast cancer. Many community members are participating by making donations in exchange for pairs of pink shoe laces, pins, t-shirts and silicone bracelets to show their support.

The following merchants are also offering pink merchandise to the public:

The Needham Goes Pink Fund is an initiative designed to provide assistance to patients of the Cancer Center in need. The fund is designated specifically for patients living under hardship conditions who are being cared for at BID-Needham and who require services. The intention of this fund is to defray the out of pocket expenses related to the diagnosis, care and treatment of the patient, and to alleviate the financial stress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Some examples of support include: diagnostic testing, transportation, meal vouchers, assistance with the cost of groceries or utilities, child care, health insurance co-payments, prosthetics or wigs, treatment-related prescriptions, etc.  The Fund will be managed through the BID-Needham Case Management Department, who will provide cancer patients the opportunity to apply for financial assistance and be able to discuss their individual needs.
