Hidden in Plain Sight - Human Trafficking in Our Midst

Each year innocent men, women and children are exploited for prostitution, servitude and forced labor. This problem of global proportions too

often goes undetected in our own local communities. On Sunday morning, November 24 at 9:15 am,
at the First Parish in Needham the Needham Lyceum will host Peter DiMarzio, Victim Assistance Coordinator with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations for ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in New England. He will present "Hidden in Plain Sight - Human Trafficking in Our Midst". DiMarzio's presentation will include a 15-minute video and discussion of such topics as the definitions and forms of human trafficking, its impact on victims, sex trafficking and warning signs, and victim assistance.

Peter DiMarzio has over 30 years of experience in serving victims of violence and currently serves as a Victim Assistance Specialist with Homeland Security Investigations. He is assigned to the Human Trafficking and Cybercrimes Units of HSI. Peter’s area of responsibility includes the six New England states and works closely with Federal, State, local Law Enforcement, AUSAO’s, DA’s Offices and Non-Governmental Agencies. He is trained as a Peer Support Coordinator, which offers support following critical or traumatic events, and certified as an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer (ASIST).
