Art demo in Needham

The Needham Art Association will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6 at the Needham Library. Artist, Robin Wessman will be there to give an oil painting demonstration.

Wessman was born in Boston and has lived most of his life in New England where he developed a strong affection for the beauty and diversity of life along the ocean’s edge. His work attempts to capture the visual and emotional experience that inspired him to paint each scene. He is particularly interested in painting what it actually feels like to be in that landscape. He strives to accomplish this by focusing on composition, color, texture, and light to create the illusion of space and to draw the viewer into the painting. Many of the paintings are started using acrylics and finished later with oils.

He earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Ohio University and a Bachelor in Fine Arts & Education from the university of Massachusetts
