My name is Peter Schuller, and I am a normal everyday 30
year old guy living in Needham, working at TripAdvisor in the Newton/Needham
area, who grew up in Newton. Almost
every year that I can remember, I have watched the marathon from Heartbreak
Hill. I have never run more than a half
marathon, which I did only once, and never even considered attempting the full
26.2 miles. Last year when the bombings
occurred on Marathon Monday, I was devastated and decided that I had to do
something next year as an act of strength, Boston pride, and defiance against
the terror. I also unfortunately have
had a lot of family (grandparents, uncles) and friends (my best friend’s wife,
and another best friend’s father) who have battled, and in most cases lost
their fight with cancer.
With these two things in mind, I decided that I
wanted to run next year’s Boston marathon as part of the Dana Farber Marathon
Challenge fundraising team. I luckily have since been accepted to this team, and it is my goal to raise more than $10,000 in support of cancer research.
Not Your Average
Joes in Needham has offered to donate 15% of your meal bill to Dana Farber on
March 3-5 (M-W this week) if you show up with their official Not Your Average Cause flier. I have attached the flier to this posting. The offer is good all day, to eat in or carry out!

DFMC directs 100% of the funds it raises to the Claudia
Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber, which
fosters scientific breakthroughs by advancing the work of gifted researchers in
a variety of basic research disciplines. These funds enable scientists at the leading edge of discovery to achieve better cure rates and to enhance patients'
quality of life.
I hope you will support my challenge by giving a gift to my
run and, in doing so, help bring an end to the challenge of cancer.
