Needham Police Log: Reported Snowplow Damage, Cash Theft

Monday, Feb. 11

  • North Hill resident reported possible financial fraud, 1:45 p.m., which police are investigating. 
  • Two iPads were repoted stolen at about 3:15 p.m. from a Freeman Place business.
  • A woman's vehicle was struck while parked in the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital lot before 7:45 p.m. There was minor damage, which the owner will report to her insurance company. Police were unable to contact the other driver.

Tuesday, Feb. 12

  • Police responded to a hit-and-run at the Needham Junction station, where a man was driving down Junction Street when a dark green Chevy pickup hit his car after 6:30 p.m.. The driver said he spoke to the other driver briefly, then the truck drove off without exchanging information. No license plate information was available, but the vehicle is described as a dark green pickup with a light green emblem on the side.
  • $1885 in cash was taken from the cash drawer of a Highland Street business, reported at about 7:45 p.m. The manager is not sure when this happened, but will file an insurance claim.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

  • At McDonald's, at about 8:15 a.m. police took a report of a vehicle which had caused property damage at the restaurant. After speaking with the property owner, they learned that the contractor who plows the lot had caused the damage.
  • An officer reported seeing a man he recognized on Chestnut Street, near the fire station at about 11:15 a.m.. The officer knew he had an outstanding warrant, and spoke to him in front of the Middlesex Savings Bank location. After confirming the warrant, Michael Cataldo, 46 of Chambers Street, was arrested and charged on that warrant, for failing to appear in court on charges of disturbing the peace and indecent exposure.
