  • Why Go: What better way to celebrate May—and the fact that summer’s not far away—than by spending time with your neighbors with a fishing pole in hand? All ages and experience welcome. You never know who will snag that big one!

  • Where/When: , 827 Highland Ave.; Saturday, May 7, 12:30-2:00 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Eat Well Be Fit Committee of Needham is kicking off a week of free walking activities with this guided walk, led by Needham resident and “green” walking expert Seth Bauer.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: , 1139 Highland Ave.; Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
  • Why Go: More than 60 local artists will be showing their paintings, pottery, prints, jewelry, origami, sculpture, photography and more at 14 spots around Needham this weekend. Meet the artists, tour the town, learn more about the creative process and pick out a few treasures to take home with you. For a map and info, click here.
  • Pricing: Free, plus the cost of any art purchases

  • Where/When: y, 1147 Central Ave.; Saturday, May 7, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
  • Why Go: If you’ve already purchased tickets to Needham 300’s Needham Night at the Pops, you can pick them up here. Bring photo ID to claim them. If you haven’t purchased tickets, this is a great reminder to do so—about 200 seats at $25 each are still available. The concert will be held on June 11 at 8:00 p.m. at Symphony Hall.
  • Pricing: Tickets cost $25 each; order information .

  • Where/When: Hardy Elementary School, 293, Weston Rd., Wellesley; Saturday, May 7, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • Why Go: Most moms love a good sale, er, sail—and here’s one that benefits a local cause in nearby Wellesley. The Wellesley High School Sailing Club’s 20-family yard sale will feature antiques, furniture, clothing, toys, collectibles and more. No early birds. All proceeds will benefit the club.
  • Pricing: Free to attend, plus the cost of whatever deals you find.
