Fine Wines Now Available In Needham Center

New liquor store opens in Needham Center.

Wines and spirits are available in the center of town, for the first time.

Needham Center Fine Wines has been open for about two weeks, and makes the fourth liquor store in Needham since the Town voted to approve the sale of alcohol.

The sign hanging from the awning is temporary, but inside the store is shaping up to have a classic interior. Walls painted purple with exposed wood in the ceiling. The walls are lined with custom oak shelving and a vast selection of wines, spirits and craft beers.

Behind the front counter with the registers, a cooler filled with meats and cheeses and stacks of beer in cardboard 12-packs. The cases of craft beers will be placed on shelving in the coming weeks.

While Patch wandered around the store, an older gentleman purchased a bottle of wine, and two ladies signed up for the email list at a laptop on the cheese counter.

The email list General Manager Jeff Morin explained that at the store's Somerville location, Ball Square Fine Wines and Liquors, customers love the feature, which allows them to keep a record of wines they purchase.

The Somerville location is also a three time winner of the Best of Boston awards.

The store intends to have weekly wine tastings, and the schedule for these Saturday events is already on the store website. Owner Chris Lianos tells Patch that the shop intends to host spirit and beer tastings as well.

With the opening of Bin Ends, Needham Center Fine Wines, Needham Wine and Spirits, and with Volante Farms now selling wines, this means four out of the five approved liquor stores are now open. Vino Divino's window still has a "Coming Soon" sign in the window.
