5 Things You Need To Know Today: Oct. 18

Get your flu shot at Town Hall, tour the recently renovated Newman Elementary School or get some job search assistance at the library.

“Five Things You Need to Know Today” is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

1. Showers tonight: Today will be sunny with a light wind and a high in the lower 60s, according to the National Weather Service. The evening will be mostly cloudy with possible showers and lows in the lower 50s. Chance of precipitation: 40 percent.

2. Flu clinic: The Needham Public Health Department is offering seasonal flu shots for local residents ages 18 and older today from 4-6 p.m. in Powers Hall. No appointment is necessary, but residents should bring their insurance or Medicare cards with them to the clinic.

3. Newman Homecoming: Parents, students, staff and members of the community are invited to check out the renovations at Newman Elementary School during a “homecoming” event today. Drop by between 3:30 and 5 p.m. for an open house and a tour of the building.

4. Help for job seekers: The Needham Free Public Library will present the fourth of five employment workshops, today at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room. This program will include a group analysis of letter-writing samples and a review of acceptable formats. This program is free, with no registration required.
