1. Mostly sunny: Today will be mostly sunny, with clear skies in the evening, according to the National Weather Service. High: 59, Low: 38.

2. Presidential debate: President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney will face off tonight at 9 p.m. in a debate hosted by Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.  The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candy Crowley, CNN Chief Political Correspondent, will moderate. The debate will air live on the following channels: FOX (KMSP), NBC (KARE), CBS (WCCO), ABC (KSTP), PBS (TPT), CNN, MSNBC, FOX NEWS, CNBC and CSPAN.

3. Case history: Gary Hylander, adjunct professor at Framingham State University and Stonehill College, will give a presentation on the Sacco and Vanzetti Trials today at 7:30 p.m. in the Needham Free Public Library Community Room. Ferdinando Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were convicted of murdering two men during a 1920 armed robbery in Braintree.

4. School meeting: The Needham School Committee will meet tonight at Broadmeadow Elementary School. There will be an executive session at 5:30 p.m., with the public meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. See the full agenda in the image gallery above.

5. Show your support: The community is invited to come support Needham Steps Up, a mentoring program for low-income Needham High School students, at a fundraiser on Monday, Oct. 22. The event, scheduled for 6:30-9 p.m. at the Needham Sheraton Hotel, will include dinner, a silent auction and a short presentation. Also, the first "Stepping up for Education" award will be presented. Tickets cost $75 per person or $45 for employees of Needham Public Schools. Learn more at needhamstepsup.org.
