5 Things You Need To Know Today: Aug. 24

Come watch "The Chronicles of Narnia" at the library at 2 p.m. or enjoy your last swim of the season at Rosemary Pool.

“Five Things You Need to Know Today” is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

1. Family movie: The will be showing The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" (Rated: PG, 126 minutes), the fourth of the Summer 2012 Film Series presentations, today at 2 p.m., in the Community Room. This program is free, with no registration required.

2. Last pool day: Today is the final day of the 2012 season at . Drop by for a swim between 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. Admission is $6 for Needham residents, $4 for non-residents and $4 for residents age 60 and up.

3. Get thrifty: The Thrift Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by to find deals on men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, small household items and even a few pieces of furniture. Customers should use the entrance to the left side of the building.

4. Chamber seeks volunteers: The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce is always looking for help promoting the economic and cultural vitality of Newton and Needham.
