5 Things You Need to Know: Meet the County Commissioners, Spelling Bee

April 3, 2013: Five things you need to know today, featuring a fundraiser and an artist lecturing locally.

1. A breezy day, a bit cooler than yesterday, predicted in the National Weather Service Forecast. High of 44ºF and a low of 24ºF, as well as a mostly clear evening.

2. Curious about the Norfolk County budget for Fiscal 2014? Well, the County Commissioners are meeting in Dedham this morning to discuss just that. Stop by the Norfolk County Office of Commissioners at 1 p.m. for their public hearing on the subject.

3. A team who was able to spell "samizdat" last year won the Needham Education Foundation (NEF) Annual Spelling Bee. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 in the Needham High School gymnasium (and for the handful of readers not familiar with the term "samizdat," it is a Russian word meaning "disseminating censored materials.")

4. Get ready for a turn on the catwalk to help breast cancer research. Tonight, 7 p.m., The Slater Foundation Presents: Spring Scene Fashion Show to Benefit The Ellie Fund featuring National Jean Company. Head to 200 Stuart St in Boston, and bring $30.
