5 Things You Need to Know: Jan. 3

Invest your money and your time wisely, perhaps into a Patch blog, work help or some community building.

1. It'll be bright, but cold again today. Sunny with a high of 23ºF, according to the National Weather Service, and then mostly cloudy in the evening with a low of 16ºF.

2. In the last few days, we have put a few great blog posts up--like "" and "5 Important Things to Know Before You Pop The Cork On Your New Year's Champagne." Have some thoughts of your own to share? Feel free to get involved. More info on the Local Voices tab, or e-mail Grahame.Turner@Patch.com for more information.

3. Seniors interested in playing the stock market may want to swing by the Needham Knights of Columbus hall this morning for their regular Senior Men's Investment Group Meeting, starting at 9:30 a.m.

4. Moms, if you're looking to get into (or back into) the workforce, there is some help. Back2WorkMoms is offering classes on Helping Moms Transition to the Paid Workforce! It starts at 10 a.m. at 180 Wharton Row in Groton, and the course runs $149.

5. Join the Wellesley Kiwanis Club for their lunch and program today. Stop by at 12:15 p.m. at the Kiwanis Club of Wellesley.
