5 Things You Need to Know: Jan. 11

A few things to do this weekend, like swimming in sync or ringing in the New Year (again) while dressed to impress.

1. 45ºF highs and 39ºF lows with a 20 percent chance of rain, that's what the National Weather Service says you can expect today. They are also calling for about a 50 percent chance of showers in the evening.

2. It may be a hard knock life for some, but not for one young Wellesley girl. Megan Kaye stars in Open Door Theater's "Annie". The show opens this weekend at 16 Charter Rd in Acton, and tickets run $12.

3. A couple of local kids are hoping to raise some money for charity by taking your old Christmas tree away. Their Pick-Up and Recycle drive continues this weekend. Contact them at moh23321@aol.com or 781-591-9435 with your address and date to arrange a pickup. The cost is $10 and 10% will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

4. Wellesley Middle School is hosting a New year’s Celebration. The theme: Dress to Impress. It starts on Saturday at 7 p.m., and it is $5 for Wellesley residents, $10 for out-of-town friends. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase for $1. See more on the Event Page.

5. Anyone 20 years of age to 90 who is interested in having fun, learning sychronized swimming skills, all while swimming to music. Then, you should check out Synchronized Swimming for Adults today at the YMCA (the one at 863 Great Plain Ave in Needham) this Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
