You Voted: Needham's Top Gym Is...

Find out who won this week's Best Of Needham - Readers' Choice poll

It was a close race this week, as Needham gyms vied for top spot in the latest poll. In the end, based not just on number of votes but also on comments and reviews, the winner of Best Needham Gym is … .

The facility, located at 322 Reservoir St., has only been open since September 2011 but it already appears to have quite a following—collecting a total of 1,264 votes (45 percent) in this week’s poll. Also garnering an impressive tally of votes this week were: , with 831 votes (30 percent); , with 503 votes (18 percent); and , with 113 votes (4 percent).

While I suspect a few readers may have voted more than once—judging by the sheer number of votes we received this week—I do love to see this kind of enthusiasm about Needham businesses. Thanks to everyone who not only voted in the poll but also added their comments to the article and reviews to the business listings.

B5 Fitness was actually overlooked when the poll first went live on Monday, but once it was added, the gym and its fans quickly jumped on board.

“B5 would like to thank all their trainers, clients, friends and family for their support,” co-owner Broc Jackson said of the response to the Patch poll. “We hope to continue to exceed their personal training experience and expectations in our studio.”

Named for Vitamin B5, an essential nutrient for the body, the gym was “created by trainers for trainers," according to the website, and provides space and equipment where independent personal trainers can work with clients. According to the site, gym founders Ali Riaz and Broc Jackson began working together in 2004 when Riaz wanted a fun way to lose weight.

Independent trainers pay the club for each private session with clients, while clients pay only their trainers, not B5. According to the site: “This allows trainers to work with their clients in a safe, nurturing environment without the added stress of membership and fees.”

The gym received 21 rave reviews . (Readers also had great things to say in the comments about Koko FitClub, VO2 and Get In Shape For Women).

One reader, Bradley, noted: “B5 is definitely the best facility I have ever worked out at. Clean, comfortable environment with great equipment and trainers who really know how to help you exercise in a productive and safe way. Broc really knows his stuff and has created a great space! Go B5 and forget about it!”

And reader Lisa Consalvo wrote: “After in Needham I was wondering where I was going to go with my trainer. B5fitness is great!!! It's SUPER clean, fun, and the owner gives you free water and coffee. Now not only do I not have to pay the gym membership, but I no longer pay my 2 dollars for water every time either. Thank you, B5!”

Needham Patch congratulates B5 and all of the top fitness centers in Needham—residents looking for a great, friendly and safe place to work out here in town clearly have many options.

Next week, we will be shifting gears quite a bit, going from fitness to french fries.
