Now Open: Needham Wine and Spirits

Needham Wine and Spirits

The first liquor store to open in Needham has been open for a few weeks now, and is gearing up for a Labor Day sale.

So, Patch wandered in to Needham Wine and Spirits to check it out.

The blue walls and hardwood floor surround a selection of craft beers, domestic, sparking and foreign wines, and an array of spirits. At the back of the shop, by the bottle return window, a walk-in cooler contains larger cases of cold brews. Some of the store's best-sellers, the store's general manager noted, come from the single-malt scotch shelves.

"We try to do a little of everything," General Manager Tim Naughton explained, "We try to be a local liquor store, but full service."

Naughton told Patch that the store plans to have tastings on Friday evenings and Saturdays during the day. Needham Wine and Spirits also partners with catering companies to cover weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs and other events.

Coming to the store by way of the store's Wayland location, Naughton, a Needham native, added that it was good to be back in town, and to see old friends. He said, with a laugh, that it was like a high school reunion.

With the opening of Bin Ends, and Needham Center Fine Wines, as well as Volante Farms now selling wines, this means four out of the five approved liquor stores are now open. Vino Divino's window still has a "Coming Soon" sign in the window.
