Needham's Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt Opens

Frozen yogurt just may taste better covered in all the toppings you can fit in a bowl.

Orange Leaf, located on Highland Avenue, celebrated its grand opening Wednesday afternoon with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Store co-owner Gerry Pelissier was joined by a number of Needham business leaders and neighbors, including Selectman Matt Borrelli, came out to welcome the frozen treats to town.

From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 31, to celebrate the opening of their second store, Orange Leaf is giving the shop away--free 8 oz cups of froyo with all the toppings you can pack on.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate our grand opening in the wonderful town of
Needham,” said, Pelissier in a press release. “We chose this location due its proximity to the Needham High School - across the street!  We believe that Orange Leaf can make a difference in providing a 'healthier dessert' to kids and adults alike with a low or no-fat, great tasting treat."

The shop is a pay-by-weight frozen yogurt place. Customers walk in and grab a bowl and fill it with one of the 16 flavors of frozen yogurt from the machines in the back, and make their way up the topping bar. When you reach the register, you place your treat on a scale, and pay accordingly.

Pelissier notes that the most popular flavors are Oreo, brownie batter and the classic vanilla swirl. The store will have seasonal offerings like, root beer float yogurt.
