Needham Farmers Market Gets Corny, Musical

Center Cafe brings a taste of Needham Center to the Chef of the Week program. Corn is in, as are balloon animals.

If you're not stalking the Needham Farmer's Market, you may not know that tomatoes and corn are in season.

We will avoid further corn-themed puns, and return you to your regularly scheduled coverage:

According to an announcement from the Needham Farmers Market, corn and tomatoes are in season, and will be at the Farmer's Market. This week's non-profit is Magical Balloon Artistry with Katie, and visitors will hear from the Brass Ensemble and Plugged In.

This week, chef and owner of the Center Café, Steve Waller is in the house as well. The Chef in the House program is new for this year. Each week, the Farmers Market will bring a local chef to join market shoppers on short tours for about an hour.

This week's vendor line-up includes: MacArthur Farm, Neighborhood Farm, Big Sky Bakery, Globe Fish, Lilac Hedge, Foxboro Cheese, Nella Pasta, Susie's Bakery, and Donna DeMaria's hand-crafted, custom beaded jewelry.

Energy efficiency company Next Step Living is joining Needham Community Farm at their booth, and will donate $10 to the farm for every energy assessment scheduled at the market.

The Needham Farmers Market opens Sundays, from 1-5 p.m. on the front lawn of First Parish in Needham. For more on the program visit the Farmers Market Chef in the House web page.

If you have feedback, you can join in the next Farmers Market board meeting, which is 7:30 p.m. on August 13, at First Parish Church,
