Bickford's Grille in Needham Closes Its Doors

The local eatery has not been open all week.

Bickford's Grille in Needham has reportedly closed its doors.

Though the company has not released an official statement about the closure, the restaurant at 669 Highland Ave. has not open all week. A sign on the door says the restaurant is closed, and many of the building's doors and windows are papered over.

A call to the restaurant on Thursday morning was answered by a person who said they had been hired to clean the building. The woman referred Patch to the Bickford's corporate office for more information. A message was left at that number.

One Patch reader said in an email that Bickford's employees had found out Sunday that the restaurant would be closing but had no other warning. Some of the employees have reportedly worked at the restaurant for more than 30 years.

The family restaurant—known by many for its "breakfast anytime" approach—is part of a chain of restaurants launched in the 1920s, according to the Patch Directory listing. The Needham location reopened in March 2010 after its previous building was destroyed in a fire in June 2008.

The company operates six Bickford's restaurants in Massachusetts and one in New Hampshire, according to the website, bickfordsrestaurants.com.
