Needham Bank sponsors Great Hall Concert Series’ second season

Needham Bank, with branches throughout the greater Boston area is proud to again sponsor the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series, held at the James Hugh Powers Hall within the Needham Town Hall.

The 2013/2014 concert series will feature six wide-ranging musical performances, including perennial favorite Livingston Taylor, bluegrass singer/musician Sierra Hull, Grammy Award winning jazz musician Danilo Perez and the Berklee Jazz Orchestra and Symphony Nova.

The “Great Hall” has a rich history as a venue where community members gathered to listen to performers of the day. In its heyday the stage saw a number of venues, including a performance by the Russian Ballet, USO drives, and visits from Senators Saltonstall and Kennedy, among others.  Recent Needham Town Hall renovations restored the 440-seat Great Hall to its former glory and today it stands as the home venue of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series.

The Concert Series is organized by the Great Hall Performance Foundation, Inc., with Needham Bank serving as the major underwriter for the series.

“The Great Hall Performance Foundation and its Board of Directors are thrilled by the overwhelming success of this new concert series,” Michael Niden, President of the Great Hall Performance Foundation.  “Powers Hall and the series would not have been possible without the support of Needham Bank; with the Bank’s continued support we have six tremendous concerts planned for 2013/2014.”

The goal of the Needham Bank Great Hall Concert Series is to promote the historical preservation of a cherished Needham landmark, while driving economic growth in Needham Center, building community and elevating the stature and awareness of the Needham High School Music Program. “It is a privilege to again serve as a sponsor of the Great Hall Concert Series,” said Mark R. Whalen, President and COO of Needham Bank.  “The Great Hall boasts a magnificent concert venue that attracts quality performers, promotes cultural growth and contributes to the economic revival of Needham Center.”
