Acrylic Painting Demo

The Needham Art Association will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at the . Artist Bruce Wood will be there to give an acrylic painting demonstration.

Wood attempts to create art that communicates positive energy, inner peace, and a sense of guiding spirituality. He crafts them to evoke a pleasant physical and emotional response in those who view them. He does this by creating paintings infused with symphonic motion and subtle color vibrations. Each painting has multiple rhythms with in it. The textures and colors are layered to emulate the way music often affects the way we react to landscape.

Wood is a painter and avant-garde filmmaker whose works have been featured at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. He studied at Massachusetts College of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Some of his artwork can be seen on his Web site, www.brucewoodartist.com.

The meeting and art demo will take place in the Community Room in the Needham Public Library at 1139 Highland Ave. It is wheelchair accessible. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. The Needham Art Association enriches Needham by exhibiting over 500 paintings in town locations every year. It welcomes new members.
