Needham Kid Actors Prepare for "Fame"

Fame sometimes comes right through town, albeit on stage in a production of the same name.

Needham teen Nola Johnson is performing in the Watertown-based New Repertory Theatre's take on the film, TV show and musical "Fame." The story follows a group of students at the Manhattan Performing Arts High School, as they learn who they are as artists and as classmates.

The production is part of the Theatre's SummerSTAGE2 program. A summer program for young actors, between grades 8 and 12, to work with local professional actors. Students learn, rehearse and ultimately perform a production with this group.

Performances run next weekend, Friday and Satuday at 7:30 p.m., with matinee shows at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students and seniors.
