Needham's got a chance of thunderstorms, but the fireworks are on, according to the Needham Exchange Club, which hosts the annual Fourth of July celebration.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with "new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

The evening forecast also shows a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with fog after 9 p.m. Chance of precipitation, said the National Weather Service, is 50 percent. It also reports a "hazardous weather outlook" for the area.

With a two day extravaganza beginning on Thursday, July 3, the fireworks are planned for Thursday evening starting at dusk.

In a post dated in the evening of July 2, the Exchange Club addressed the concern of weather on its website as well as on its Facebook page, and stated that "The Exchange Club has received a number of calls, emails and posts over the last day about a possible rain date for the fireworks, so we wanted to update everyone on the current plan for the events. We are holding to the original schedule published on this website. Should the weather deteriorate, this website will be updated and the Needham Channel will broadcast any updates."

Thursday evening's festivities also include food tents, children's entertainment, pony rides, and live music.

Needham Patch will also post updates.
