The tradition keeps running with the Needham New Year’s Day 5K

Needham, MA – The tradition is running strong as registration for the Sixth Annual Needham New Year’s Day 5K Road Race opens.

Registration is open for the Sixth Annual Needham New Year’s Day 5K Road Race on Racemenu.com (https://www.racemenu.com/events/27981-Needham-New-Year-s-Day-5K   or from the club website http://Needhamrunningclub.com ) which will benefit the Needham YMCA, Needham Cultural Council and the Needham Community Council. There will be prizes for the fastest runners overall and the fastest Needham Runners, the youngest runner and the oldest runner. We will also have a special prize for the largest family of runners. Every runner will also receive a new performance wicking running beanie.

Athletes from seven different states along the east coast and as far away as the United Kingdom were among last year’s finishers of this event.   As the reputation grows so does the field of competitors that will challenge our local favorites, so even if you might not be up for the 3.1 mile course come cheer and support a great cause.  If you would like to volunteer along the race route contact Needham Running Club (NRC) directly through its website or email at Needhamrunningclub1@gmail.com.

The NRC was established in 2006 and is made up of runners, cyclists and triathletes.  The club is open to the public with the goal of providing training partners for athletes of all abilities – from casual runners to Ironmen.  What began as informal social events to discuss running, cycling and swimming, is now an active running club
