Boston (Dec. 11, 2013) – Citizen Schools President Emily McCann, of Needham, Mass., will join the Good Sports Board of Directors, bringing years of strategic planning and business development expertise in the nonprofit industry to Good Sports’ mission of getting more kids in the game.
As the President of Citizen Schools, a nonprofit organization that partners with middle schools across the United States to expand the learning day for low-income children, McCann oversees general direction, long-term planning and strategy, performance management, as well as top-level financial, technology, talent, and external engagement support for the organization.
Prior to Citizen Schools, Emily worked in Business Planning and Development for the Walt Disney Company where she was responsible for strategic planning and resource allocation for the Walt Disney World theme park and resort. She was selected for the Walt Disney World Partner in Excellence lifetime achievement award.
"I am thrilled to join the talented Board of Good Sports, an organization whose mission is very close to my heart,” said McCann. “The big idea - that access to sporting equipment helps transform both opportunity and achievement for low-income youth - and the model for scale through partnerships with corporations, are both strategic and practical. I look forward to helping Good Sports realize its long-term vision. "
McCann earned a B.A. from Harvard College where she was designated a Radcliffe College National Scholar, and her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School where she was designated a Harvard Graduate National Scholar and Social Enterprise Fellow. Emily and her husband live in Needham, Mass., with their four children.
