BOND CELEBRATES “TOPPING OFF” OF NEW CANCER CENTER AND SURGICAL PAVILION AT BETH ISRAEL DEACONESS HOSPITAL – NEEDHAM

On Thursday, October 3rd, BOND, a leading 106-year-old construction management firm with locations in Boston, Connecticut and New Jersey, alongside JACA Architects and members of the BIDMC community held a “topping off” ceremony for the new Cancer Center & Surgical Pavilion located on the Hospital’s campus in Needham.

The facility’s final beam, scripted with messages from hospital staff and project team members, was raised high and set in place by BOND crew members.  Speakers included Beth Israel Deaconess – Needham President and CEO John Fogarty, and Jennifer Pline, Chair of BID-Needham’s Board of Trustees.

The new 30,000 square-foot cancer center and surgical pavilion will consolidate Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s west suburban cancer services into a new comprehensive location.  This new surgical center will provide advanced surgical procedures to patients closer to home.   The complex will become home to radiation oncology services previously provided at BIDMC’s Waltham location.  With advanced imaging systems located in this new facility radiation therapy and access to cutting edge clinical trials and treatments will be available.
