Today in Needham: Singing Cats, Pass the Sandlot, and More

Five things you need to know today for August 21, 2013 in Needham and Wellesley.

1. Looks like the National Weather Service is saying we'll have a warm and sunny day--89ºF highs and sunny all day, temperatures dropping to 65ºF with some possible overnight fog early tomorrow morning. Otherwise, it should be mostly clear.

2. You like going to events? Or planning them? The Patch Events Calendar is always looking for more entries. We're social folks, but we sometimes miss things that are happening. Which is where you come in: If you have something coming up, and you want Needham to come, post it to our calendar.

3. You're killing me, Smalls. Although you don't have to be. Mitsubishi Electric is presenting a movie today at Fenway Park. Starting at 7 p.m., head to Gates D and B to get. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and can be
bought at redsox.com/sandlot

4. For people who think bread making is a spiritual experience--or would like to find out how it can be--Vilna Shul in Beacon Hill is offering a challah baking class tonight with Mrs. Shayndel Zaklos, co-director of Chabad of Downtown Boston. They suggest a donation of $18, and the class starts at 7 p.m.

5. Not all cats can sing, although many of them will try. The Yale Alley Cats are all set to Perform in Needham, at the Presbytarian Church tonight. The Alley Cats are an undergraduate a capellagroup--or perhaps institution is the better word; they have been around since 1943. The show is free, starts at 7:30 p.m.
