Today in Needham: Parental Talks, New Notebooks and More!

Five things you need to know about Needham, Dover and Sherborn on Oct 3, 2013.

1. 78ºF, how does that sound? The National Weather Service predicts 78ºF highs and sunny skies today, as well as lows around 53ºF with a partly cloudy overhead come the evening.

2. It doesn't get much more current affairs than "Conflict on the Korean Peninsula: North Korea and the Nuclear Threat." If that's a topic you want more info on, then the place to be tonight is the Dover Town Library at 6 p.m. for their current affairs discussion. Starts this month on Thursdays.

3. Susan Getman, President and CEO of the Walker school, is talking here in Needham, at the Leaque of Women Voters meeting tonight. Pre-meeting refreshments start at 6:30 p.m., and she goes on stage at 7:15 p.m. For further information contact president@lwv-needham.org or visit www.lwv-needham.org

4. Take a page out of the “New England Notebook: One Reporter, Six States, Uncommon Stories.” The Sherborn Library is welcoming "Chronicle" reporter Ted Reinstein to talk about his new book. Tonight at, 7 p.m., he will be talking about his first book and the stories he encountered. For more information, call 508-653-0770, or visit our website at http://library.sherbornma.org

5. When parents talk, they sometimes get answers about preschool--such as when Parent Talk hosts a Preschool Fair at the Newman Elementary School in Needham. People from over 30 leading preschools in and around the area will meet and answer questions about their programs. Starts at 7 p.m. Free for Parent Talk members, and $10 for non-members.
