Today in Needham: Coat Council, Impressionable Works, and More!

Five things you need to know for Dover, Sherborn and Needham on Oct 9, 2013.

2. Have something coming up and want to invite the whole town? Put it on the events calendar! Head over, fill in the web-form, and it is live on the site almost instantly.

3. Need a new coat before it starts snowing? Now might be the perfect time to go grab one, and support a local organization. The Needham Commuity Council is hosting its annual coat sale today, starting at 10 a.m. when they open. Swing in to get the perfect gently-used coat for the coming season.

4. Fans of impressionist art, paint a space in your schedule for the Dover Council on Aging's lecture today on impressionism. Starting at 12:45 p.m. at the Dover Town Library, and running until 3:45 p.m., come and learn everything you wanted to know about the impressionists but were too afraid to ask.

5. "The Flower of Empire" is a book in which Tatiana Holway, transports readers to 1836 British Guiana, when Hermann Schomburgk is stumbles onto an eight foot wide water lily in the jungle. The author is coming to the Mass Horticultural Society's location in Wellesley to talk about the discovery. The lecture runs $10 for MassHort members, and $15 for non-members.
