Real Estate Tax Bills Coming to a Mailbox Near You

1. Weather

There is a 90 percent chance of snow today. The temperature high will be near 25. Northeast wind will be 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Tonight there is also a 90 percent chance of snow tonight with lows around 8. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. It will be blustery, with a north wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

2. Real estate tax bills mailed

Third quarter real estate tax bills have been mailed and payments are due by Feb. 3. If you have not received the bill by Jan. 6, contact the Town of Needham Tax Collector’s office at 781-455-7500, extension 209 to have another copy sent to you or you may request a copy through the Town’s website by clicking on Town Departments, Tax Collector and submit the request using the “Submit an Inquiry to the Collector Treasurer's Office.” The Town of Needham cannot accept credit card payments for property taxes at this time.

4. Dog licenses available at Town Hall

Dog licenses for 2014 are on sale in the Town Clerk’s Office starting today. Licenses are available as follows:

$25: Male/female dogs

$20: Neutered/spayed dogs

$50: One to four dogs for kennel licenses

$75: Five to 10 dogs for kennel licenses

$150: Ten or more dogs for kennel licenses

All dogs that are six months of age or older must be licensed annually under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 140 and Article 4 of the Town of Needham’s General By-Laws. An updated proof of rabies vaccination is required prior to licensing as well as proof of spaying and neutering. If you wish to license your dog by mail, send a current proof of rabies vaccination and neutering information along with payment and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Town Clerk’s Office, 1471 Highland Avenue, P. O. Box 920663, Needham, MA 02492.
