Good Morning! I’m Your New Editor!

Good morning, Needham!

As some of you already know, I am the new editor for Needham Patch. My name is Kelly A. Mello. I began my career with Patch by launching Norton Patch in 2010. Since then, I have been shifted around as needed, but going forward I will be settling with the Needham and Wellesley Patch sites. I am excited to get to know these towns and the people in them while building on the sites that have already been established.

So, who am I?

I grew up in a little place in Massachusetts called Freetown. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2006 with a degree in English, Communications & Rhetoric. I first got into journalism in 2007 working for GateHouse Media. I did everything from reporting and coordinating the calendar of events to ordering office supplies and taking out the recycling. Then I made the leap to work for the web-only news site, Patch.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Norton. I loved meeting as many residents as I could, attending events and sharing the things I learn about the town with readers. I hope to do the same with Needham and Wellesley.

Likewise, I’m looking forward to readers sharing what they know about the town through our calendar of events, boards and blogs. If you’d like any help with those features you can reach out to the community editor, Tamara Starr at 617-515-1816 or tamara.starr@patch.com.

Do you have suggestions for stories? Please contact me anytime. I am honored to be your new editor, and I'm here for you.
