Wellesley Swim Association Tryout Registration
The ON-LINE tryout registration for the Wellesley Swim Association (WSA) swim team is now open through September 23, 2012. Please note, pre-registration is mandatory in order to participate in the tryout process. No walk-in registrations will be allowed on the day of the tryout.
WSA is holding tryouts for its 2012-2013 season from 3:30-6:30pm at Babson College on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
More information and the registration process can be found on the team website: www.WellesleySwim.org.
Specific tryout times by age group are as follows:
• 3:30 - 4:30: ages 7 & 8 only -- children must be 7 and over by January 1, 2013. Please arrive by 3pm.
• 4:30 - 5:30: ages 9 & 10 only. Please arrive by 4pm.
• 5:30 - 6:30: ages 11 & up. Please arrive by 5pm.
Swimmers must arrive 30 minutes prior to the tryout time stated above to allow ample time to get signed in and complete the rest of the registration process. The fee for tryouts is $20 per swimmer. During the tryout process, in addition to speed and stroke quality, coaches will be looking at the swimmers’ experience and maturity, especially for the younger swimmers.
“The WSA coaches have a philosophy that the parents support,“ says swim parent and Board President Mark Ward. “They work together to ensure each swimmer has the opportunity for personal growth and development. The coaches emphasize stroke technique and efficiency, training procedures, and self discipline and individual and team sportsmanship.”
The WSA is a non-profit private swimming team and provides an organized program of competitive swim training and team competition for boys and girls, ages 6-18. Members of the team draw from a number of area towns including Wellesley, Medfield, Needham, Dover and Sherborn. This past year’s team was comprised of approximately 180 swimmers. WSA will have approximately 40 openings this season.
The team is a family-oriented swim team run by a volunteer Board of Directors and parent volunteers. The Association arranges for quality training facilities, coaching and swim meets from October through March. Currently the team practices at Dana Hall School, Wellesley College and Babson College. The team has eight highly experienced and dedicated coaches.
