Needham, MA –  ParentTalk, a nonprofit, volunteer organization in Boston’s Metrowest area that supports families with young children, is readying its semi-annual Used Clothing, Toy & Equipment Sale to be held Saturday, October 20, 2012.  This fall's Parent Talk sale offers families the opportunity to stock up on high-quality, bargain-priced children's and maternity items, while earning through consignment or donating to local charities.

With the cooler weather approaching, many are looking to avoid paying retail prices for gear that may only fit for one season.  Needham resident Noreen Finnegan takes full advantage: “I love the fall sale for snow boots and clothing. I got almost new snow pants for $6 [and] Rugged Bear snow jacket[s] for my 7 year old and 5 year old under $10. Unbeatable values for families, especially in this harsh economy.” Shoppers have been delighted by the quality of items found at past sales. Jodi Rooney, a Needham mother of two, says, “5 years ago I got a $50 sound machine for $3, and it is still working today!”  Nikki Amara Myers, also a Needham mother of two, is equally impressed with the deals she's found: “A great buy this past sale was a nice, wooden glider and ottoman for $45. I think I paid several
hundred dollars for a new one a few years ago, so this was an incredible bargain.”

Occupying over two floors of Needham's Christ Episcopal Church and featuring thousands of bargain children's items, Parent Talk's semi-annual sale is attended by hundreds of shoppers. Last year almost 10,000 items were sold.

For 21 years, Parent Talk has relied almost exclusively on volunteers, and last year about 270 of them helped out with the Sale. Proceeds benefit Parent Talk's community work and events; all unsold items are donated directly to local charities that depend on these goods to fulfill their missions, including Circle of Hope, Lynn Women's Health, and Big Brother/Big Sister.

Christ Church is a welcoming parish that asks members to work together to help their fellow neighbors. Adopted on Aug. 19, 1895, the Church nearly tripled in membership in the 1950s and has grown steadily since. Today, the main church rests on an acre and a half on the corner of Rosemary Street and Highland Avenue. Constructed in a Gothic architectural style, the main church can house up to 450 people, while the smaller chapel has room for 200.

Sunday services are conducted throughout the year, as well as Morning Prayers on Tuesdays. Wednesday services are also held on Wednesdays between September and May. Choirs also meet regularly.

All meetings can be scheduled through the Christ Church office by e-mailing office@ccneedham.org.
