The Newman Homecoming is coming up on Thursday, Oct. 18—a day to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Newman School. The following is a view of planned events of the day:
12-1 p.m. Welcome State Treasurer Steve Grossman and Jack McCarthy, executive director of the Mass School Building Authority will be in attendance along with PPBC, School Committee members, selectmen, town officials and other Needham citizens.
1:15-2 p.m. Dedication of the new Newman playground
2:15-2:45 p.m. Community meeting followed by a cake reception with student body, teachers, former school administration and superintendent
3:30-5 p.m. Community Open House: The school will be open to all members of the Needham community for self-guided tours

Newman Elementary School is home to grades kindergarten through five. Rita Bissonnette-Clark is the principal. Newman's core value system falls under the mantra of CARES, which stands for cooperative, active, respectful, engaged and successful. In addition to its regular school curriculum, students often take part in social and humanitarian assignments, including a recent project that has raised over $18,000 for Haiti.
