 o work past the traditional retirement age\, the Vita Needle Company of 
 Needham provides inspiration and important les&shy\;sons about the value
  of older workers. In "Retire&shy\;ment on the Line\," Lynch explores wh
 at this unusual company&rsquo\;s commitment to an elderly workforce mean
 s for the employer\, the workers\, the community\, and society more gene
 rally.\nBenefiting from nearly five years of fieldwork at Vita Needle\, 
 Lynch offers an intimate portrait of the people who work there\, a nuanc
 ed explanation of the company&rsquo\;s hiring practices\, and a cogent a
 nalysis of how the workers&rsquo\; experi&shy\;ences can inform our unde
