Needham Open Studios begins this weekend. What to expect and where to go.
The following was submitted by Needham Economic Development Director Devra Bailin: As part of the on-going collaboration between local businesses and artists, several Downtown merchants are opening their doors to some of the local artists participating in the May 4 and 5 Needham Open Studios. You can see the artists’ demonstrations, browse and shop Needham Open Studios in the Downtown, where there is plenty of parking in the public parking lots, including Chapel Street parking lot, and along Chapel Street and Great Plain Avenue. Come enjoy the cluster of artists and artisans, shop the participating local merchants (and our other independently locally owned businesses!), and dine in one of our great local restaurants. On Saturday May 4th …

Two master suites on two levels is just one example of the many extraordinary comfort features within this Needham Cape.
Customized comfort and convenience. This was the noticeable direction the owners and builders proceeded when creating this beautiful Cape on Needham's Peacedale Rd. Their first approach was placing master suites on the first and second floors allowing the flexibility of single-floor living. Second, the kitchen is fully equipped with multiple high-end appliances and services. Lastly, its flexible floor plan also endorses a family's changing lifestyles and can easily evolve with its residents schedules and needs. A spectacular two-story foyer with a turned staircase provides the perfect introduction into this carefully designed home. The oversized 20 x 16 square foot living room accepts that entertaining for today's families is extremely …

Low inventory continues to hamper home sales.
Needham's single-family homes actually rose in March, despite an overall decline statewide. The Warren Group blamed that decline on “shrinking inventory," which is “depressing sales volume." Single-family home sales in Needham rose from 23 in March 2012 to 19 in March 2013. Year-to-date, Needham has seen a total of 58 homes sold – compared to 51 in 2012, according to The Warren Group, which publishes Banker & Tradesman. "Low inventory is plaguing housing markets all over the country, and Massachusetts is no exception," said David Harris, editorial director at The Warren Group. "With mortgage rates low and prices competitive, we're hopeful more sellers will emerge and the trend in dropping home sales will reverse." Similar to the …
