What's Closed in Needham on MLK Day

State, town offices not open today in observance of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

 

Today is a federal holiday observing the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (whose birthday fell this year on Sunday, Jan. 15). The town of Needham will hold a free community event honoring Dr. King beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Needham High School. All are invited to attend.

Because of the holiday, several locations around town will be closed today. Here's a quick guide:

BANKS

Banks are closed today.

COUNTY OFFICES

All Norfolk County offices are closed today.

LIBRARY

The Needham Free Public Library will be closed today. It will reopen for its usual hours at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

MBTA

The commuter rail service will run on its regular schedule.

POST OFFICES

The U.S. post offices in Needham and Needham Heights are closed today.

SCHOOLS

All Needham public schools are closed today. Classes will resume on Tuesday.

SENIOR CENTER

Both the Council on Aging office and the senior center are closed. Activities will resume on Tuesday.

STATE OFFICES

All state offices are closed today.

TOWN OFFICES

Need to drop off a bill, register to vote or apply for a building permit? Not today. All Needham town offices are closed.
